When we decided to offer online ag classes from the Nelson Academy, I was hesitant to widely advertise the program to the student body as a whole. I didn’t want to set the students up for disappointment. We told two students who we felt were mature enough to handle online classes, but also could give us realistic feedback on the program.
Both praised the course and the content and are signing on to a new class for spring semester. Because of the rigor of many of the courses, Highwood Students have high expectations for coursework. They would be the first to comment on a class if they felt it was an easy A. This has not been the case. They have enjoyed the course, speak to the content and both feel they time has been well spent. This has been high praise, indeed. As a result, parents have been complimentary and other parents and students have inquired into the possibility of also enrolling in ag classes this spring, or next year.
I am so glad we have been able to offer this program to our high school students. Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Becky Aaring

With budget cuts eliminating the kinds of diverse instruction that keep students interested, engaged and prepared, the Nelson Academy utilizes 21st century tools to teach the kinds of skills and craft that are critical to preserving the traditions and way of life that make Montanans who we are. Mr. Nelson’s instruction is flexible and responsive while utilizing strategies that are engaging to students in the modern classroom.
